Like a snail without a home
An icecream without a cone
Like a beehive with no honey
Or the wallstreet broker without money
Like a tap without any water
A farmer’s wife without a daughter
I look at what is missing and feel a little funny

Hey you, look at what we’ve got
And not at what we have not

We got the spring
We got the wind blowing through the trees
We got the sounds of the birds and the bees
We got love

We got the sun
We got the roof and we got the bread
We got songs dancing in our head
We got love

Like the rider with no horse
Like nature that can’t take its course
Like the cow without her calf
Half of a twin without its half
It’s like the blind man without his dog
Or a city shrouded in smog
I look at what is gone and don’t feel very sunny

Shall we look at what we’ve got
And not at what we’ve not

There is a knot inside my tummy
There is a pain in my old head
When I think about my problems
Or that mean thing someone said
As I stare at that white ceiling
All my worries overpower me
I feel so insignificant
While my monsters devour me

I try to calm myself
By remembering what I know
I look deep inside of me
To my quiet place I go

There’s something I forget from time to time
Love will conquer fear and make me whole
I am not the car, I am the passenger
I am not the body but the soul

I feel bleary-eyed and tired
There’s a pain inside my gut
My physique is out of order
By I can’t tell you what
While I wallow in discomfort
And hope and pray to get better
I feel my happiness slip away
To reveal a mood that’s bitter
